Good indie film
Just saw the film, <a href="www.imdb.com/title/tt042...uot;, this past Monday as a part of the 7th Annual Deep Ellum Film Festival, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully besides the festival circuit, this film will at least receive some sort of theatrical run before it hits DVD. Look for it if you have a film festival coming near you. In fact, I hope the people at Out Takes Film Festival give it some notice for next year. It's a coming-of-age story with a twist.
In this fictional narrative, the main character dealing with a rare genetic condition that causes him to change gender with each erection, and the only way that this can be altered is to have sexual relations with another person with similar symptoms. There's plenty of genuinely funny scenes in this film, as well as some sensitive issues that handle without being bogged down with syrupy sentimentality. There also some very erotic scenes in the film; a refreshing change from simple "dick" and "tit" jokes and "slam-bam" shots that Hollywood dishes out with wild abandon to.
To be real, the whole sexual ambiguity/androgeny thing kinda "works" for me occasionally, so the movie definitely hit home (as well as a couple of its actors :-). I applaud the cast and writer/director Martin Curland for this film.
