Chico & I went here Friday the 16th of Feb around 11pm.
When we walked in the door, the owner Dae Soo Kang came out from behind the sushi counter and welcomed us with wack to the gong to announce our arrival to his waitstaff and the other diners. You could tell that it was a true family resturant, which is always the best, because of the 14 year old boy behind the cash register. The 2 room restaurant is decorated with a mix of a Japanese, Chinese and Korean art and style. Each table has lamineted sushi and sushimi cheat sheets to look at, and one of Mr. Kang's Sushi & Roll cook books. His book was really helpful with knowing what the heck an Idaho roll is, and etc. I believe the ebooks are for sale for $50, but I'm not sure.
We started off with a hot Sake & some Edamame. It took us asking for the Hot Sake twice before we got it, and the Edamame was ok, a little over cooked. Let me be clear that you will probable have to ask for what you want to drink a couple of times, they have only been open a couple of months and seem to be new at this whole service thing. That doesn't mean that they don't try, and it is no reflection on the food.
So we decided to split everything, so we started with the Short Rib BBQ Koean Style. OMG was this wonderful! It came with a mixed green sidesalad with 1000 island of course, and white steamed rice, $10. I can't wait until we go back for the Boi Go Gi, thinly sliced beef BBQ Korean Style. I also want to try the Unagi (eel) Japanese BBQ Style, YUMMMY!
Then we moved into the Sushi & Rolls. Let me tell you they are very generious in their cuts for sushi. The Toro was 3 inches of delight! My mouth is watering just wrighting about it. We also had Yellow Fin, Baby Salmon, Eel, Flying Fish Roe, Spicy Tuna Roll, Rambow Roll, and the Avacado Roll. They came out all together, nicely arranged on a large Japanese plater. Everything was so fresh and delicious. It was way to much food. We actually had to ask for a togo box.
All in all we had 2 Sakes, 1 ice tea and a water, the Short Rib dinner, Toro and all the other sushi and rolls, that came out to be around $90. Because it was our first time in our waitress bought the sakes for us. We tipped her $15 and the Chef $10. It was well worth it. Now granted we splerged, this was our Valentines date, and we left with a very full togo box.
As we left the Mr. Kang came around the counter again and bowed to us and thanked us for coming in, then gave us a menu with a hand written suggestion on what to order next time we came in based on what we had ordered this time. Is that cool or what! We said our goodbys & thank you's to another wack to the gong.
